The Nepali Congress on Friday decided to endorse the annual budget from the parliament even as Maoists try to disrupt the session.
A meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party decided to make all efforts to convince the Maoists to allow the House to function for the passage of the budget, but the budget must get through the House even as the Maoists try to disrupt the session.
NC lawmakers said the budget would be passed even if there is ruckus in the parliament amid Maoist boycotting.
The budget introduced four months earlier is yet to be passed due to the Maoist obstruction in the parliament.
Finance Ministry officials and experts have warned that further delay in endorsing the budget will render serious harms to the national economy as well as the functioning of the government mechanism.
Leaders of the ruling parties have said they are not in favour of endorsing the budget through an ordinance. Speaker Subas Nemwang has also urged the government not to opt for ordinance.
The Unified CPN (Maoist) has said it wants a 'package agreement' on the issues it has been raising and that whether they should end the obstruction in the House would depend on such an agreement. nepalenws.com
