Seven persons have been killed and at least nineteen others injured when a bus carrying pilgrims to Lumbini met with an accident at Jalbire of Mugling-Narayangad road section, Thursday night.
The bus with registration no Na 2 Kha 6271 skidded off the road and fell 100 meters down to crash in the banks of fast-flowing Trishuli river. Six persons died on the spot while one more died while being rushed to the hospital, according to reports.
The victims of the tragic bus mishap have been identified as 50-year-old Ram Babu Baskota, 26-year-old Krishna Baskota, 5-year-old Sudhikchya Baskota, 30-year-old Renuka Khanal, 45-year-old Laxmi Khanal of Kirtipur Municipality; 60-year-old Ram Chandra Rijal of Matatirtaha VDC and Bishnu Prajapati of Bhaktapur, according to District Police Office, Chitwan.
The bus was carrying 43 passengers.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Bharatpur hospital in Chitwan. Among the injured, the condition of Sunita Baskota is said to be serious.
The cause behind the accident has not been known but police believe that the bus might have lost control while negotiating the sharp turn at Jalbire in high speed.
The bus remains lying near the Trishuli river completely destroyed and the driver of the bus is absconding. Nepalnews.com
