It is another good reason to visit Nepal, especially for lake aficionados.

Nepal is home to more than 5,300 lakes, a recent study has shown.

An initial study conducted by the researchers of Nepal Lake Conservation Development Committee showed altogether 5,358 lakes across the country, a local daily reported Sunday.

The committee was established under the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation in 2006.

Experts from Nepal Academy of Science and Technology and National Trust for Nature Conservation were also among the researchers, the report said.

Shailendra Pokhrel, program coordinator of NLCDC, however said that although lakes comprise 3 percent of available water in the country, the conservation efforts are far from satisfying. nepalnews.com

Yes Shailendra Pokhrel sir is very right because there are very much good lakes
in Nepal and they need to be conserved and if conserved then these lakes may
serve to the economy of the country by attracting the tourist to such a heavenly
experience of wetlands of Nepal

Dear columnist,

It is so nice to hear that at least civilian and government
sector is doing something in terms of conservation and research of our
lakes.

It would be wonderful if you provide further information links to access
information about location, area, quality of water, alude and possibility use of
a lake.

Warm Regards
Kumar Rai
