A minor and an elderly couple died in separate road mishaps in Birgunj and Dhankuta on Thursday.

Ganesh Kumar Rauniyar, 6, a resident of Jeetpur VDC-3, Bara, was killed when he was hit by a truck with license plate no Na 4 Kha 146 near Birgunj on Thursday morning.

The truck and its driver are currently under the custody of the police.

The Birgunj-Pathlaiya road section was obstructed by the locals for few hours following the accident. After the vehicle's insurance company promised proper compensation to the victim's family, traffic has resumed in the highway.

In another incident, an elderly couple were killed after being mowed down by a microbus in Dhankuta today morning.

The deceased have been identified as Bishwo Raj Nepal, 65, and his wife Sita Nepal, 60, of Itahari. nepalnews.com
