Inmates in Morang district prison have been protesting since Saturday afternoon accusing the police of supplying marijuana to three of their fellow inmates, Nagarik daily reported.

The inmates have been staging demonstrations on the terrace of the prison and chanting slogans demanding action against the policeman involved and equal treatment to all prisoners.

They have accused police constable Muntuk Yadav of supplying marijuana to inmates Teke Limbu and Ramesh Dhakal. Limbu and Dhakal are kept in separate cells from other prisoners. Limbu is a patient of Hepatitis and Dhakal is HIV infected.

Earlier, a joint team of prison administration, security personnel and representatives of the inmates had confiscated 15 grams of marijuana from Limbu and Dhakal's cells.

Security has been tightened in around the prison as the situation there has become tense due to the protests. A 15-member Nepal Police squad led by Assistant Sub-Inspector and a 75-member Armed Police Force squad led by an Inspector are deployed at the prison.

The prison houses some 550 inmates. nepalnews.com

So whats the big deal security supply marijuana to other prisoners. Do not you
people know that marijuana is now legal in most of the western countries and
there is no bad side effect from smoking it.

This article is quite confusing
what is relation to HIV, Hepais, and separate cell and marijuana. How is this
related to the story. Nepali writer never cease to amaze me.

what does " equal treatment" mean? Does it mean that rest of the inmates
should get the privilege of being supplied with marijuana?
