Fire engulfs house in Durbarmarg

A major fire broke out in an old house behind Hotel Yak & Yeti in Durbarmarg Tuesday evening. Nobody got injured, but a substantial property was gutted by the fire, police said.

Fire brigades from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts and from Nepal Police and Nepal Army were deployed to extinguish the fire.

The fire that started a little after 8 pm, Tuesday was taken in control after almost two hours. Fire brigades had faced difficulty controlling the fire as the alley leading to the house was very narrow.

The cause of the fire is not known yet. Police said, they suspected the fire could have ignited from an electric short-circuit. They are investigating on the incident. nepalnews.com

Let this be lesson to all Kathmandubasis who are building houses wherever they
want. Think before planning to build a house. If someone gets sick is the
ambulance will be accessible in your area? If your house caught into fire is the
fire truck accessible in your area? Kathmandu is so crowded now that even the
God will not be able to save people from natural disaster like earthquake.
