TU seeks more time to revise fee hike

Tribhuvan University has asked for more time to revise its recent decision on fee hike after talks with student unions failed to reach any conclusion.

TU's information centre issued a press statement Friday in response to the 72-hour ultimatum given by the student unions to revoke the decision and appealed the student unions to allow more time for internal homework on the issue.

13 different student unions affiliated to various political parties had submitted a joint memorandum to TU Vice Chancellor on Tuesday demanding the decision on fee hike be revoked within 72 hours. The student unions had warned of agitation against TU if the decision was not revoked.

TU had called the student unions for talks on Thursday and Friday. However, the talks failed to reach any conclusion.

TU academic council had decided to hike tuition fees on Sunday.

Student union leaders have said they would meet Saturday afternoon to discuss future course of action. nepalnews.com

Tution fee became a political issue since Panchayati system.
Do not do politics
in fee.
University is not a political ground. Make it the ground for scholor.
For poor government should take its responsibility and the guarentee but not by
TU administration.

Hike of tuition fee is quite ok, but T.U. should think of seriously about those
students who truly can not bear of such fees. The students union should believe
on nothing but quality education.

Mr.TU Board of Directors, if you think that considering more time to revise the
tution high is difficult then you all should resign with the prompt action. you
have managed to scrutinize the education insution as well due to involvement
with POLITICAL ANIMALS . Please do something for these students who have
financial difficulty in paying more for there education. These students are the
future and it is sad to see them in such desution and this is also because of
these POLITICAL ANIMALS so centralised in their greed they ruin the economy of
our country leaving unemployment only. Also if the budget for education is
utilised with pilot programme for the development of these youth the money sould
be enough .
I also know if these POLITICAL ANIMALS stop corrupting the buget
then there is no need of inflating the fees . Do something for this good cause
for our youths otherwise shame on you if you do not resign and you are also
