Five persons have been killed due to consumption of spurious liquor in Gadhimai festival, Bara, in the past two days.

Krishna Yadav and Harindra Yadav, of Telkuwa VDC, Bara died last night, while three others had died Friday. Yadav duo died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Birgunj.

Three persons including two Indian nationals had died on Friday after consuming the poisonous alcohol.

All of them had drunk domestic liquor in Nemi Sah’s make-shift shop at the Gadhimai festival venue Thursday night. They were pilgrims who had come to observe the Gadhimai festival.

One of the deceased is shop owner Sah’s brother. Sah is absconding to evade arrest.

Although, the organising committee has banned use and sale of liquor in the area during the festival, liquor is easily available in the area, reports say. nepalnews.com
