An Armed Police Force (APF) team rescued Isha Bhattarai, an intermediate level student of Kathmandu's Padma Kanya Campus, in dramatic circumstances a day after she was abducted from the capital.
Originally from Gaurigunj, Jhapa, Isha was found inside a passenger bus (registration no. BA 3 Kha 2460, Rajdevi Travels) in a near unconscious state by the APF patrol team from Base Camp Nijgadh during a routine checking at Amlekhagunj of Bara district. Police suspect that her abductors may have drugged her and were trying to take her across the border.
According to reports, the victim started crying immediately after seeing the policemen and before the latter could suspect fowl play the abductors fled the scene.
Upon inquiry by the police, Isha could not remember how she happened to be
on the bus.
She said she was approached by two strangers while traveling in a van and couldn't remember what happened after that. She said she can neither identify her abductors.
She has been taken to the area police post in Nijgadh and is said to be doing well. nepalnews.com
