In that time he was' Mr'. Donnelly, serving his
3-year Scholasticate at St.
Xavier High School in Cincinnati, OHio.

He was a tough teacher but fair. In
fact, perhaps a bit too fair. He 'gave' me a ping grade at the end of my second
year. It made the rest of my education and career possible. Some years later,
when he was on Home Leave I met him. He remembered me, the grade and my parish
church. A truly remarkable man. He will, indeed, be missed.

have a deep respect for him and I feel proud to be a Xavierian knowing that he
was also a true Xavierian. Wishing you a good journey at last Father.

He was my English teacher. He used to call his books, I think...Brown
Bombers…
The knowledge he has bombarded me with has always helped! Rest in
peace and now you make me feel my age!

Fr Donnelly is one of the great educator of Nepal. He devoted his whole life to
serve Nepal. I remember him very much for helping my son Pukar to get through
grades 1-5 at St Xavier Godavari. He is a great inspiration to all of us.

Fr Donnelly was an amazing teacher and an inspiration. To this date I can
remember his "brown bomber" and the rules he taught us in 1972 (when I
was in year 8) regarding punctuation and grammar. When things get difficult for
me, I remember something he used to say,"When the going gets tough, the
tough get going." The last time I met him was some years ago in St Xavier's
Jawalakhel when I visited him with my family and, with his incredible memory, he
recalled interesting incidents that had happended to him and to Nepal over the
years. Thank you for the enormous sacrifices you would have had to make to
spend all these years in Kathmandu helping thousands of children like me. I
will miss you and pray that your soul rests in peace and that you are now in
heaven.

I will always remember Fr Donnelly as a person with a pion for whatever he did,
whether as a coach, English teacher, or just making me feel good with a booming
cheery "Hi Bijay"; will miss him.
