Four die in Parbat landslide; bad weather hampers flights to and from Pokhara

Four persons of a family died when landslide struck their house in Thapathana VDC, Parbat district, early Wednesday morning.

Durga Prasad Bhandari, his wife Binu, 7-yr-old daughter Simana and 4-yr-old son Bisham were killed in the landslide, reports said. Durga Prasad's two other children were rescued by villagers from the wreckage.

Similarly, dozens of houses at Setibeni in Saligram VDC, Parbat, have gone under water after heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, a large area in Baglung Bazaar, the district headquarters of Baglung, has been swamped following incessant rainfall.

Works at several government offices including district development committee, district police office, revenue office and the district administration office have been affected due to the flooding, reports say.

In another report, several flights to and from Pokhara were either delayed or cancelled due to bad weather Wednesday morning.

There was heavy rainfall in several parts of western region including Pokhara over the past 24 hours, causing landslides and flooding. nepalnews.com
