Maoist cadres clashed with police after they waved black flags and tried to obstruct the convoy of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in Gaur of Rautahat district on Friday morning.
PM Nepal was shown black flag by dozens of Maoist cadres and sympathizers while he was on his way to attend a programme in his home district. The Maoist cadres also chanted slogans against the prime minister and what they call the "loser" government he leads.
Security personnel immediately intervened to disperse the crowd and in resulting clashes, an APF personnel was injured.
The police rounded up about six Maoist cadres and took them in custody. The area where the clash took place remained tense for a long time.
There was heavy presence of security men along the routes used by the Prime Minister's convoy.
Later in a meeting with his party district leaders and cadres, PM Nepal came down heavily on the Maoists, saying that their activities show that they still have the lust for power even though they haven't got a clear majority.
He said the Maoists can't get back into power by acting as a "cry baby".
In a similar incident earlier this month in Pokhara, the prime minister was greeted with black flags when he arrived there to inaugurate the 3rd general convention of Higher Secondary School Teachers Association.
The Maoists cadres and sympathizers have decided to wave black flags at the President, prime minister including government ministers and attempt to obstruct their programs to show their displeasure towards the fall of the previous Maoist led government following a row over the sacking of the former Army chief. nepalnews.com
