Member of Nepali Congress's sister organisation Tarun Dal, Chandra Prakash Hanggam has been murdered in Ilaam-Godak section of the Mechi Highway, Monday.

A group of about half-dozen persons attacked Hanggam and his pillion rider while he was going towards Jhapa from Taplejung on a motorcycle. Pillion rider Patanwa has been seriously injured. He has been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) for treatment.

Nepali Congress has stated involvement of Unified CPN (Maoist) cadres in the murder. Issuing a press release Monday, NC headquarters said it severely condemns such barbaric activities of the Maoists.

NC Taplejung president Surya Man Gurung told Kantipur daily over the phone, he could identify the murderer if he was allowed to enter the PLA cantonments. nepalnews.com
