Even as the continued disruption of the House proceedings by the Maoist lawmakers has shelved major legislative works including endorsement of the budget bill, Finance Minister Surendra Pandey on Friday claimed that the budget will be passed within the next seven days in the parliament.
The Finance Minister was clearly hinting that the government ordinance is not required to see the budget through, as some leaders are saying.
Talking to media-persons in Bhadrapur of Jhapa where he reached today to inspect the flood-affected areas of the district, Minister Pandey said that the budget has already entered the parliamentary process and that there is no other option left but to have it approved from the parliament.
He said the Maoist demands are political and not at all related with budget and assured that this is why the controversy on the issue will be resolved in the next seven days.
Minister Pandey also said that the constitution will be prepared by the stipulated time and that there is no alternative left for the political parties but to reach a consensus to end the prevailing political deadlock. nepalnews.com
