The delegation of the British parliament's International Development Committee has urged Nepal's political parties to accelerate the ongoing peace process.

Organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Saturday, after completing the four-day visit, the nine-member team of British parliamentarians lead by the Committee's chairman Malcolm Bruce said that the progress on poverty reduction and inclusion of all groups in the society, particularly women and ethnic and religious minorities will not be achieved without permanent peace and stability.

Stating that 31 percent of Nepal's population earns less than one dollar per day, Bruce further said there are huge challenges regarding development in Nepal, which have been further complicated by the slow peace process.

Expressing the UK's commitment to assist in Nepal's development, he added that the Nepal government must prepare conducive environment for assistance.

"UK wants to see that the agreed peace process, writing the new constitution must remain on track and all sides must work together on their peace commitments", he added.

During its stay here, the British parliamentary team visited Surkhet, Achham, Banke, Kaski, Parbat and Baglung districts and inspected Maoist cantonments, hospitals, schools, community forests, roads and water supply programmes funded by the British government.

They also met the Prime Minister, ministers, party leaders, representatives of civil society, private sector and the donor community.

The British parliamentary delegation left for Bangladesh for a similar visit today. nepalnews.com

Whilst I am not a racist person I am having serious difficulties at the moment
with a huge majority number of nepalese children attending my childrens school
in Aldershot in UK. Last night my child and three of his friends were attacked
by a large group of these children for no reason. Resulting in one of my childs
friends being admitted to hospital in critical condition after a stab wound to
the head. Every time something like this happens our children are blamed for
being "racist". My children have been raised to respect people from all
cultures. So much so that one competed in a national youth marching band
contest as part of a band made up of members of various cultures, and won it as
a team. I am now forced to remove my child from school until further notice and
will be approaching as many parents as humanly possible to do the same. Our
children are not safe due to the racist nature of these "new" chi...

That's good suggestion and right advice also that the first condition for
country's development is peace. There are so many countries in the world suffered
for development due lack of peace. The donor countries like EU & other insution,
the UN all come meet the leaders and finally in a statement to the Media advise
for peace. Those who advice are not neutral. They take side of one of the
political party indirectly and boost it.Taking such support, the party creates
politice unrest in the country. Why they don't come to help such countries with
clear hand?
