Dhankuta district administration has imposed curfew orders for an indefinite period in and around the district headquarters after the situation became tense, Tuesday.
District Administration Office (DAO), Dhankuta imposed indefinite curfew orders from 5 pm, Tuesday to avert imminent clashes between cadres of CPN (UML) affiliated Youth Force (YF) and Unified CPN (Maoist) affiliated Young Communist League (YCL). Earlier, the DAO had called both YF and YCL to come for talks. The curfew was imposed after both the groups did not turn up.
The tension began after YCL cadres torched nine motorcycles used by YF cadres in Sidhuwa Monday night. YF called an indefinite bandh from today protesting the Monday's incident. Cadres of the Youth Force and locals took to the streets against the Maoists from early Tuesday morning.
The agitators destroyed and burnt the party office of the main opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) in the district. They have also taken down sign boards from other Maoist affiliated organisations protesting against the Maoist's unruly behaviour. nepalnews.com
