In view of the possibility of further clashes between the Maoists and CPN-UML activists, local authorities in Dhankuta district re-imposed the curfew to maintain law and order in Dhankuta Bazaar, the district headquarters, on Wednesday.
District Administration Office (DAO) Dhankuta imposed indefinite curfew from 12 noon in Dhankuta Bazaar until further notice after lifting if for six hours from 6 am today morning.
The District Administration Office (DAO), Dhankuta had imposed the curfew from 5 pm Tuesday to avert clashes between cadres of CPN-UML affiliated Youth Force (YF) and Unified CPN (Maoist) affiliated Young Communist League (YCL), yesterday.
Tension had begun in Dhankuta after YCL cadres torched nine motorcycles used by YF cadres in Sidhuwa Monday night. YF had called an indefinite bandh from Tuesday protesting the Monday's incident. Cadres of the Youth Force and locals had taken to the streets against the Maoists from early morning Tuesday.
Reports said the Maoist cadres have also blocked all the roads leading to Dhankuta today. nepalnews.com
