The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) said Wednesday that it wanted direct talks with the Prime Minister on the demands it has raised.
A meeting of the MJF central committee decided to sit for talks only with the Prime Minister as the issues raised by the party could not be resolved at the ministerial level.
The MJF's decision comes a day after the government invited it for dialogue in response to its memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister on Saturday.
In the memo, the Upendra Yadav-led Terai party warned of a protest movement in Terai if the past agreements signed by the then agitating United Democratic Front are not implemented immediately.
The agreement included compensation to the families of those killed during Madhes uprising and withdrawal of cases against those involved in the uprising.
The party has also demanded that the government declare Hindi as a language of official use and activate the office of the Vice President, which remains inactive since the Supreme Court nullified VP Paramanda Jha's oath in Hindi. nepalnews.com
