Minister for Industry Mahendra Raya Yadav
Minister for Industry Mahendra Raya Yadav has on Wednesday admitted that political interference has taken heavy toll on financial health of state-owned industries.

He also said that the grounds of Biratnagar Jute Mill would be utilized to set up a special economic zone (SEZ).

The ministry is planning to sell the properties of the country's oldest and largest mill to the highest bidder through a tender procedure.

The government put Biratnagar Jute Mill into pay-off system in the third of September. However, its workers have been denied with their promised money.

According to Yadav, different state-owned industries and mills operating in the Sunsari-Morang corridor would be shifted to the SEZ.

He also claimed that lethargy of other ministries had hampered the process of handing over the multi-fuel plant to the private sector.

The multi-fuel power plant located at Bansbari has an installed capacity of 39 MW. nepalnews.com
