Poudel, who is also NC's Parliamentary Party leader, made the remark a day after the Mahasamiti meeting decided to, among others, approve the party's statute that largely limits the authority of party president and has opted for multiple post leadership.
Speaking to reporters at a programme organized by Nepal Students' Union (NSU), the student wing of the party, in honor of the members of the Mahasamiti at Tri-Chandra college in the capital, Poudel said that the decision of the Mahasamiti meeting has ushered in "internal democracy" that the party had been seeking for a long time.
This will help in making the party more organized and united, he claimed.
NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, who is often accused of running his party with iron fist, was against trimming the authority of the party president. He had also exercised his tremendous leverage inside the party to shelve the meeting. nepalnews.com
