A ten-member delegation led by Indian Home Secretary G.K Pillai arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday to take part in the two-day meeting. Home Secretary Dr Govinda Kusum will lead the Nepali team.
During the meeting, the two sides will discuss various security issues including the extradition treaty, cross-border crime and excesses by the Indian security forces along the Nepal-India border.
Meanwhile, the business community of Rupaidiya, India, called a two-day Rupaidiya banda on Thursday to protest the high-handedness of Indian authorities against Nepali consumers in the border area, reported the Kathmandu Post.
Rupaidiya shares border with Banke district of Nepal and is a major market place for Nepalis living in bordering areas.
Indian traders alleged that Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Indian customs officials were extorting from Nepali consumers and tourists on various pretexts. nepalnews.com
