PM Nepal asked the home minister not to take any action against state minister Begum as yet, when the latter consulted the PM Sunday on the matter after growing pressure from various employees associations.
CPN (UML) chairman Jhala Nath Khanal had suggested PM Nepal to sack state minister Begum. Some leaders of Begum’s own party Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik have suggested the party leadership to ask Begum to resign based on morality.
PM Nepal is planning to ask state minister Begum to apologise for her act, it is learnt.
State minister Begum is charged of slapping Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa Durga Prasad Bhandari at the latter’s office in Birgunj. Parsa police have filed a case of public offense and issued an arrest warrant against her.
Although Parsa police have said they have written to police offices in Kathmandu valley to assist them in arresting Begum, valley police offices have been saying they have not received such communiqué.
The police headquarters has been avoiding the issue saying it’s within the jurisdictions of the district police offices to arrest an accused of public offence.
It’s not such a big issue. The district police offices will act as per the procedure. The headquarter need not be involved in this, Nepal Police spokesperson DIG Bigyan Raj Sharma had told Nepalnews on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Parsa CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari has been called to Kathmandu by a verbal order of the ministry. Bhandari reported to the home ministry on Sunday. nepalnews.com
