The party has announced an indefinite bandh starting today in the Terai districts demanding release of their cadres arrested on charges of attacking chief of Birgunj Custom Office Kewal Bhandari.
Transportation along the east-west highway as well as supporting highways has been obstructed due to the bandh.
Demonstrators smashed window panes of half-dozen vehicles in Sunsari when they were trying to operate under police escort, this morning. Police have arrested three demonstrators, alias Sunil, Mausam and Shiva, for vandalizing the vehicles.
Educational institutions have also remained closed due to the bandh in various Terai towns including Janakpur, Inaruwa and Itahari. Matrika Yadav-led Maoist cadres had sent back students who went to morning colleges in Janakpur.
Market has opened only partially. Party cadres have been deployed in various places to impose the bandh. Security has also been heightened in the Terai districts. A large number of security personnel have been deployed to curb the impact of the bandh in the Terai districts. nepalnews.com
