Khanal, who arrived in Biratnagar to inaugurate the convention of UML Morang district committee, also indirectly expressed displeasure at the recent meeting between Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Singapore.
"Singapore or Hastinapur, meetings in foreign countries are not going to resolve the problems here," he said, adding, "The Maoists should understand that the country's problems won't be settled through negotiations abroad."
On the contrary, Khanal himself was on a weeklong visit to India earlier this month. He had extended his stay in New Delhi for two days, apparently waiting for a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh.
In New Delhi, Khanal had met a number of Indian leaders including Finance Minister and Congress (I) leader Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and leader of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lal Krishna Advani.
Another influential UML leader K.P Sharma Oli, who is considered one of the masterminds of the 22-party ruling coalition, is expected to return from India today. nepalnews.com
