Nepali Congress acting-president Sushil Koirala clarified on Monday that his party is not looking for a replacement of the current UML-led coalition government and wants it to continue in power until the country has a new constitution.

This remark of the NC acting-president comes as a rebuttal to the statement of UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal a few days ago that he had discussed forming a new government during his meeting with Girija Prasad Koirala in Singapore.

On Sunday, the NC president refuted this claim by the Maoist chairman in his meeting with the prime minister, saying that his Singapore meeting with Dahal was not for change in government leadership.

Accusing the Maoist chairman of trying to create confusion and create instability in the country through such statements, Sushil Koirala said that to look for an alternative to the current government is to openly invite the Maoists to form a new government.

And our party doesn't want that to happen, he said.

The NC acting-president, who was speaking at a press meet organized by Press Union Kaski Chapter in Pokhara, said Girijababu (Girija Prasad Koirala) is wrong to believe that Maoist chairman Dahal will abide by the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA).

He said that it is very shameful of the Maoist to call for a new understanding when they have not abided by the previous agreements at all.

However, at another programme in Kathmandu the same day, an influential NC leader contradicted the NC acting-president by talking about the party's resolve to form of a "national consensus government", possibly by dissolving the current one.

Dr Shekhar Koirala, who is also nephew of NC President and had accompanied the latter in his trip to Singapore for medical treatment, said that after the formation of a High-Level Political Mechanism the issue (of forming a national consensus government) will finally be settled.

It will be settled either by reshuffling the current government or forming another one, Dr Shekhar Koirala said.

He revealed that during the meeting between the NC president and Maoist chairman in Singapore there was a sort of an agreement to discuss the possibility of a consensus government after formation of HLPM.

The NC president's nephew further said that the announcement of a HLPM will be made within a week. nepalnews.com

NC ko nautanki herne din aba dherai chhaina. The days when the second and third
generation NC leaders and karyakarta will open their own party and try to unite
them under various 'nautanki' names is not very far now. So, just wait till
Girija takes respite in his age care home, and we can see all that happen.
Girija and his company did all the harm to the country and only after his time
will Nepal have to start again all from sctratch.

We have been taken for a ride many times by so called self proclaimed political
leaders. No one could be trusted. They speak something one day and when they
find out what they said is back firing, they change their colors and try to be
good samaritans. Enough is enough. Nevertheless, for the country to prosper and
move in right direction, we can't do without these LOKTANTRIC leaders that come
under the guise of "democracy." What a waste...

do not give chance to the extremists to destroy the democratic nepal by allowing
the UNCPM in power. they should get lession by the promulgation of consution
without their presence in power.

To control these bunch of political idiots, only way is to rule like Bangladeshi
style, the army rule by Dr. Ram Baran Yadav. There won't be any consensus in
these parties and things went so far that it will be hard to tame these wild
politicians who says one thing to party cadets and another to foreign media.
Look at Girija and Prachadra- these nuts should be wiped out. Otherwise do not
expect anything, wait for to be a failed state.
