Receiving the memorandum, PM Nepal told student union leaders, the decision on fee-hike was taken with careful consideration by TU academicians. He assured the student leaders that he would talk to TU officials to find a solution by adopting a middle-path.
However, the student union leaders informed the PM that they would not sit for talks again until the decision is revoked.
As per the announced protest programmes, the students also staged sit-in demonstrations for an hour in front of the offices of chiefs of various campuses affiliated to TU, Thursday.
Although, the programme to submit the memorandum to PM Nepal was scheduled for Wednesday, the programme was postponed for today due to the PM’s busy schedule.
The first phase of agitation of the student unions against the fee-hike is ending tomorrow and the student unions have warned they would launch a more intensive agitation if a solution is not found till then. nepalnews.com
