They say they will continue to halt work in the government offices until the government agrees to take action against the erring minister Begam.
The civil servants affiliated to eight different unions had started their second phase of protest demanding action against the state minister from last week. They have warned that they will start a nationwide agitation if their demands go unfulfilled.
Parsa District Administration Office, customs office including many other government offices in Birgunj, the district headquarters of Parsa, remains closed due to the strike by civil servants.
Minister Begam had slapped Parsa CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari for disrespecting her by providing an old vehicle for her travel in the district some three weeks ago.
Following the assault, CDO Bhandari filed a case against Begam under Public Offence Act 2027 in District Police Office.
It was reported that the Parsa District Police Office had issued an arrest warrant in the name of minister Begum, but the Kathmandu Valley Police has been saying they have no knowledge of such a warrant.
Minister Begam had in a statement issued after the incident accused the irresponsible behavior of the CDO for her actions, but admitted it was 'unfortunate'. nepalnews.com
