Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood met Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter's residence at Maharajgunj Friday afternoon to discuss the recent political developments in Nepal.
The current political deadlock and the efforts made by the parties to resolve it figured chiefly at the meeting between the Indian envoy and the NC president, who has not made public appearances for the last several weeks due to poor health.
They also discussed issues related to constitution-drafting, peace process and the fresh protests announced by the Maoists, it is learnt.
Sood is also known to have inquired about the much-hyped meeting between Koirala and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Singapore few weeks earlier. Dahal had flown to Singapore to meet Koirala who was undergoing treatment at a hospital there.
There were rumours of the two leaders reaching an understanding for formation of high-level political mechanism and a new government. However, both the NC and Unified CPN (Maoist) have officially dismissed such reports. nepalnews.com
