Government offices in Parsa district that remained closed for several days in protest against the misbehaviour with Chief District Officer Durga Bhandari by Minister of State for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Karima Begum, opened from Monday.

The agitating civil servants agreed to return to work after the representatives of the local civil society 'promised' to exert pressure on the government to take action against the minister.

Eight different organisations of government employees were on an indefinite strike demanding legal action against the minister who slapped CDO Bhandari for dispatching an old vehicle to fetch her from the airport on November 1.

Meanwhile, state minister Begum skipped her planned trip to her home district Parsa today following 'warning' by the district administration to arrest her, reports said.

Minister Begum, a Muslim, was to arrive in Birgunj to participate in Bakr Eid celebration.

Reports quoting CDO Bhandari said she would be arrested if she arrived in the district. The local police authority had earlier issued warrant for her arrest, but she has been attending public functions as usual. nepalnews.com

There is no need to label Begum, "a Muslim" as this is not relevant here. Such unethical and unresponsible reporting is how the journalists are unnecessarily linking crimes and poiltics to everything including racism. The code of conduct should be forted for such reporting to curb such 'intentinal' or unintentional linking of a purely a matter of questionable conduct and illegal ault by a minister to civil servants. Such racial colouring is not only unnecessary, it is dangerous and malicious. I think Nepalnews should remove this news or edit for republishing without such dangerous wording by its staff newswriters.
