The Constitutional Council (CC) meeting likely to make various appointments in constitutional positions has been postponed for Sunday.

The meeting was postponed after main opposition party UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and deputy prime minister Sujata Koirala failed to turn up for the meeting on Wednesday morning.

The council has failed to make key appointments in constitutional bodies such as Public Service Commission, Election Commission, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Office of the Auditor General due to continuing differences among the parties.

The council meeting was called today to make recommendations in these agencies as well.

The meeting of the council on Monday had recommended Anup Raj Sharma as the new Chief Justice. nepalnews.com
