Police have revealed more details on Khyati murder case after a two-week long investigation.

At a press conference organised on Friday, police said they had concluded Khyati was killed within three hours of abduction. The final post-mortem report has shown that Khyati was hit three times by a rod before she died.

The main accused of the murder Biren Pradhan has confessed he hit Khyati with the rod to make her unconscious after the sleeping pills she had been unknowingly given failed to render her totally unconscious.

His accomplice, Merina Shakya was present during the incident and had tried to prevent Pradhan from hitting Khyati. Pradhan, however, threatened Shakya to kill both her parents and her only brother if she leaked any information about the incident.

Police have also refuted any attempts of rape before murder.

Pradhan has revealed he initially had plans to ask Rs 2.5 million in ransom. However, he changed his mind and reduced the ransom amount to Rs 1 million after Khyati accidentally died before collecting the ransom.

Police have filed a case against Pradhan on charge of kidnap and murder demanding life-imprisonment and seizure of all his properties. The penalty could be more severe if there is enough pressure from the media and the public, but it is totally up to the court to decide, police said.

Most people are demanding a death penalty to the main accused. There is no provision of death penalty in the interim constitution. nepalnews.com

Thanks to the reports that police have concluded. we can make new provisiton in
our consution to stop such cases to be heard in the future. Biren must be
hanged in public and merina who have supported him with calling her and
arranging all to be in prison for life. let her know what she did by supporting
such a devil. Please plese please all readers of this post and all fellow nepali
citizens are request to gather together to force government of nepal to make new
law amendmend in our consution and hand Biren in Public. we may feel safe if
governemt could do so at this time. today itself there are so many news of
abduction and there are thousands of rapes which were never came out for various
reasons too. We must have law to stop this.
lets begain to struggle now for
death penalty for murderers and rapers.

I am amazed by the opinion expressed here. Sure, what they have done is very
dispeakable crime but if as a society we did for tat, we are as bad as those
criminals. Yes, they should be punished but to kill and torture them in the name
of justice is equally criminal. Biren Pradhan is nothing but a reflection of
collective consciousness of people who are hell bent on greed, deception and
voilence. Perhaps he is even a victim himself, not that I am defending him. If
we look at ourself deeply and honestly...what has been happening in our country
for last 10-12 yrs...murder...deception...miming...all in the name of some
political slogan. Those politicians and others who were involved in such killing
are no bettter than Biren. Biren is just a weak, unthoughtful perhaps even in a
moment of anxiety and mental imbalance he did that. But didnt our country choose
a prime minister who is actually responsible for killing of thousand of youn...

DEVEN  - WE DONT HAVE THE ELECTRIC CHAIR   |116.66.193.xxx |2009-07-05 06:05:15
since we don't have the electric chair or even the injection system like the usa
where criminals of this kind are given the death sentence; and where its not
even stipulated in the interim consution, giving this hardened criminal life
imprisonment will never be enough for a crime of this magnitude. hence, it is
the public and a great news channel like 'NEPAL NEWS' THAT SHOULD PUT PRESSURE
ON THE GOVERNMENT TO GIVE THIS CRUEL MAN THE DEATH SENTENCE - EITHER BY HANGING
OR A BULLET STRAIGHT IN THE HEAD....OTHERWISE, HOW ELSE WOULD WE BE ABLE TO CURB
CRIME IN THIS COUNTRY. life imprisonment would mean nothing coz we all know
about 'nepal ko kanoon, bhagwan janoon'.
Tshering  - Biren should be hanged to realize the meaning of L   |82.41.64.xxx |2009-07-05 05:10:00
