Unified CPN (Maoist), agitating, has burnt copies of some Nepal-India treaties they term unequal including the Sugauli Treaty, 1950 Treaty and the Mahakali treaty in Kathmandu and other parts of the country, Thursday.

The Maoists, who have said they would focus their fourth phase agitation after they stepped down from the government in May following a controversy over sacking erstwhile Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal in national sovereignty, burnt copies of such treaties saying the treaties are against the welfare of Nepal and Nepalis.

The Maoists had organised a function at Ratnapark in Kathmandu to burn treaties at about 4.30 pm, this afternoon.

Earlier, Maoist leaders had visited various places on the Indo-Nepal border they considered encroached and addressed mass assemblies there.

The Maoists have burnt the treaties one-day before Indian foreign minister SM Krishna is visiting Nepal. nepalnews.com

First was the collection of tax which was surplus on budget, in the entire tax
collection of Nepal.

Second is burning of this old treaty which was 51/49
relationship between India and Nepal.

They were int he government and they said noting about that..now that they dont
have anything to do they are trying to gather sympathy...i think they maoists
should burn eachother for that cause...heehhehe.......how can they burn the
copies of treaties when they have signed treaties to give back the property and
land of nepalese people themselves....aholes...bunch of holligans who got nothin
productive to do...i think the media must ask them this question first and then
run their news...

Will burning copies of the treaty solve any problems? But of course, what else
do Maoist know apart from violence?! Unfortunately, Nepal is a land-locked
country surrounded on three sides by India. If India decides to block incoming
goods, what can Maoists do or propose burning next??!! Before Maoists put up a
show by pretending to protest against land encroachment, they must return the
land they have encroached themselves from others! Otherwise they will look like
the biggest hipocrites in the country!!

Well done comrades, atleast you dared to show the neighbouring giant that
Nepalese are now atleast morally strong enough and ready to defend their
sovereingty. No leaders or parties have voiced their concerns in this regards
before and leting indians do whatever they want to do along the border lines.
Our politicians and diplomats are to weak to raise this issue. So, the general
public must start souting at both the govts (Nepal/India),
otherwise....

It's an appreciating step taken
If you are not to follow any rule
then it is
better to destroy it.

When nobody dares to accept these
rules then u must
reject it in
this way.

Good Luck.
