In a courageous feat, two shepherds in Myagdi district managed to save their lives by fighting off a leopard that attacked them while they were cutting grass in the jungle on Tuesday, according to a report in Kantipur Daily.
The two men - Lal Bahadur Ramjali, 58 and Masabir Roka, 40, of Patlekhet VDC - took on the ferocious cat with nothing but bare hands and a sickle and drove it away after inflicting injuries to the beast.
Ramjali and Roka are currently undergoing treatment at Beni Hospital and Research Center in the district headquarters for bruises they received on different parts of their body including heads, legs and hands while struggling against the leopard.
Showing the teeth and claw marks and recounting the encounter with the leopard, Ramjali said that the leopard had first attacked him. But he managed to free himself from its deathly clutches after two minutes and somehow hurled it away.
Then the wild cat pounced on Roka who struggled against it for few more minutes before injuring the beast by striking it with the sickle.
Badly injured, the leopard then fled from the place much to the relief of the two men. nepalnews.com
