United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) chief Karen Landgren met with Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj on Wednesday and discussed constitution drafting, army integration and the ongoing peace process.

Emerging from the meeting, Landgren told journalists that during the meeting they basically discussed completing the task of army integration and taking the peace process to a logical conclusion within the remaining 4 months time period UNMIN has left before its term expires again.

The UN Security Council has last Thursday extended the UNMIN term by nearly four months amid heightened tensions in Nepal ahead of the framing of a new constitution.

(UNMIN) chief Karen Landgren
Landgren also expressed her satisfaction at the rapid progress made in the army integration front and initiative taken to resolve the political deadlock and conclude the peace process by forming the High Level Political Mechanism.

It is learnt that during the meeting Koirala assured the UNMIN chief of a timely statute and also sought UNMIN's active role in concluding the peace process.

The meeting has taken place a day after the Special Committee for the Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist combatants finalized the organizational chart of the new chain of command that will bring Maoist combatants living in UN-monitored cantonments under government control. nepalnews.com

UNMIN,,,doing great job but not enough. Paper works are more than in actual
level. For those who are disqualified from Maoist campaign,,,how they came and
what happened to them...How to get real informations and how to achieve
peace..Not matter at all.
The only matter is some Doentations like
Journal's team work.Anyway it is only helping some opportunitists journalists to
grab INGO high contract based salary for few months.
That's all,,,,,,Anyway
something is better than nothing.
