The Unified CPN (Maoist) is all set to announce its next phase of protest programmes on Sunday.
The standing committee meeting of the main opposition party held at the party’s headquarters in the capital on Sunday decided to hit the streets again to uphold what they call civilian supremacy and national sovereignty.
The meeting was called by the party leadership to discuss the party’s approach during the fifth round of agitation including its duration. During the meeting, the standing committee members also put forth their respective views on the political dossier recently tabled by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Talking to media-persons after the meeting, Maoist spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma informed that the party will make public the protest programmes on Sunday after the SC meeting approves it. He said the party was compelled to announce fresh stir to ensure timely drafting of the constitution.
Sharma also assured that the party’s fifth phase of stir would be peaceful, adding that they were even ready to call it off if the High Level Political Mechanism addresses their demands.
If not, we will be forced to call an indefinite strike, he added. nepalnews.com
