He told journalists in Arghakhachi Wednesday morning that cause of his party's poor performances in recent years was due to the fear of Maoist attacks and looting of properties.
He blamed the Maoists of hiding their arms and claimed that new constitution cannot be drafted until these arms are uncovered and handed over to the state.
He said that his nation-wide tour is for renewing enthusiasm to the NC party workers for strengthening democracy. On the occasion, he also announced to contest for the post of party president in upcoming general convention.
Khadka also opposed the proposal tabled at the Constituent Assembly to carve out states on ethnicity lines and forecast civil war in the country if parties agree to adopt the proposal.
The state restructuring committee of the constituent assembly proposed for 14 states drawn mosty on ethnic lines. Party leaders speaking on the report at the CA debates opposed the idea and proposed for formation of a state restructuring commission for determining number and names of the states.
He also called on the parties to adhere to their commitments made in the past to ensure timely constitution and successful conclusion of the peace process. nepalnews.com
