A senior government officer was abducted by an unidentified group in Mahottari district on Monday.

Lal Dev Ray, the chief of the Land Revenue Office in the district, was kidnapped by unidentified armed men while he was returning home from his office on his motorcycle at around 6:30 p.m.

According to police, Ray was abducted from Parsa Bazaar. They have recovered his motorcycle from the place and handed it over to his family members.

Reports said a police team has intensified the search for Ray.

Employees at the Mahottari Land Revenue Office halted all works on Tuesday to protest against the abduction of their office chief. They demanded that the police find the whereabouts of Ray and bring him to his family unharmed at the earliest.

Police suspect the hand of armed outfits operating in Terai behind the abduction of Ray. The small rag-tag group of armed men often kidnap government officers, teachers and businessman in the district for ransom money. nepalnews.com

He said that he will not p the land until I gave him Rs 9000 . Finally, I negotiated with him for Rs 4500. He took from me Rs 4500 and ped the land.
