The breakaway faction of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) registered new party -- Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik -- in the Election Commission (EC) Wednesday.

Gachchhadar faction registered the new party after the EC awarded the official status to Upendra Yadav-led faction. Earlier, both factions had claimed to represent the official MJF.

Chaired by Gachchhadar, who is the deputy prime minister in the UML-led coalition government, MJF-Loktantrik has constituted a 19-member central committee with Rameshwor Raya and Nasiruddin Siddiqui as vice chairpersons, Jitendra Dev as general secretary, Rabindra Thakur as secretary and Asha Chaturbedi as treasurer. Sarat Singh Bhandari has been named senior leader.

Central committee members are: Dr Tilak Rawal, Ram Janam Chaudhary, Ratneshwor Lal Goit, Sanjaya Shah, Bharatendu Mallik, Kebuli Paswan, Rajeshwori Jaisawal, Upendra Jha, R.C Yadav, Jaya Prakash Yadav, Ram Lal Sutihar and Jibachhi Chaudhary.

Earlier, Gachchhadar had lambasted the EC decision to recognise the Yadav faction as the official MJF and had threatened to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.  nepalnews.com
