Ram Bahadur Bomjan

Ram Bahadur Bomjan, who has been meditating in the jungles of Bara since past five years and is widely known as 'Buddha boy', detained locals of Manaharwa village of the district who 'encroached' in his area and assaulted them last week, reports say.

Bomjan and his associates took in control 17 villagers who had entered the jungle to collect fodder on Thursday, crammed them in a small room and beat them up with sticks on charges of giving sacrifices at the Gadhimai festival. They were released on Friday.

The villagers filed an FIR at District Police Office, Bara against Bomjon and his associates showing injury marks from the beating.

Chairman of Tapoban Forest Conservation Committee Bed Bahadur Thing conceded the accusation of the villagers.

We took action against them for their attitude towards Bomjon, said Thing.

Bomjon had tried in vain to stop the mass sacrifices in Gadhimai temple last year. nepalnews.com

I personally think that animal sacrifice is a sin.
