Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday made it clear that his party will not reach any agreement with any political parties that could lead to the disintegration of the country.

Talking to journalists after a meeting with Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) chairman Naryan Man Bijukchhe at the latter’s residence in Bhaktapur today evening, Dahal said that his party will not reach to any “unnecessary agreement” with any parties just to get back into power.

“We respect the demand and sentiments of Janjatis, Madhesis, Dalits and marginalised communities,” Dahal said, “but we will not reach any unnecessary agreement that will create crisis or result in the disintegration of the country.”

The Maoist chairman had met Bijukchhe to seek latter’s support in the prime ministerial run-off slated for August 2. Dahal was accompanied by his confidante, vice-chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha, in the meeting.

The remark by Dahal comes at a time when an alliance of Madhesi parties is seeking a written commitment on its demands from parties who want its support during the prime ministerial run-off.

Among the demands put forth by the alliance of Madhesi parties includes declaration of the entire Terai region as ‘single Madhesh province’.

While NC leaders are positive about most of the demands of the Madhesi parties, the Maoists have said they are willing to agree to all other demands of the Madhesi parties (which include reservation for Madhesi people in the national army) except declaring the entire Terai belt as a single Madhes province. nepalnews.com

A very small nepal do not need to be divided. Those who need a madhes pradesh
should join hands with india's madhesis and make a as large as they want madhes
somewhere in bihar, uttar pradesh or madhya pradesh of south asia! Mr. Dahal,
don't let the country disintegrate at any cost, please.

Madhise must come COMPETETIVELY not by a PREFERENCIAL treatment. As Nepal's
government's priority should go to ALL people who are GEOGRAPHYCALLY, socially
(including pahade and madhise dalits), economically, and developmentally by lack
of access to resources. NOT BY COLOUR or CASTE. Seeking PREVILEGE BASED ON
COLOUR and CASTE/RACE is TOO RACIST and DISCRIMINATORY to other HIGHLY
disadvantaged people who needs PRIORITY. POLITICAL parties MUST stop
generalizing and Clearly SEPARATE so called "madhise" sentiments in the
same category with Janajati and DAlits. Madhesi Dalits should however be in the
same category as othe dalits, but without separating/categorizing madhesi or
pahade. Dalits are Dalits whereever they live.

... the term Madhesi is HIGHLIGHTed unnecessarily by particularly few Patrakars
and civil society members without considering its implication in Nepal's racial
integrity and harmony. Population studies is one area wher Nepal's
intellectuals/politicians should really analyze/ study and debate before making
any national policies. division or regions is FAR distant thing which shouln't
be even considered to bring into debate; let alone making political
decisions/agreements without even considering majority/and original people of
NEpal. Nepal need to REMOVE madhesi in the same category of Dalit, and Janajati
who were historically as well as CURRENTLy socially/economically disadvantaged,
and developmentaly and geographically DEPREVED too much. No one has stopped in
any areas of Nepal's life to prevent people from madhesi origin to participate
and succeed.

Mr. Dahal, I appreciate you didn't agree with IRRATIONAL demands of so called
madhesi CHARLATAN netas. But, please don't use phrase such as "sentiments of
Janjatis, Madhesis, Dalits and marginalised communities”. How can you put
madhesi in the same category with Dalit, janajatis? Madhesi is just a RACE. YOU
MUST NOTE: within madhesi there are very fundamentalist/ racist high caste
people migrated from north India who have ENSLAVED poor and marginalized peoples
like MUSAHAR, Koiri, Telia and Many DALT castes, YOu MUST Really be careful NOT
TO USE GENERAL TERM like Madhesi. 70% of people in Madhesi RACE are Highly
Advantaged Landlords, also educated and previliged people. They are using the
disadvantage of less than 20% of disadvantaged ppl. to capture government, and
with help of INDIA's strategy. These must be brought to DEBATE. the term Madhesi
is HIGHLIGHTed unnecessarily by particularly few Patrakars and civil society

With due respect to all:
Often when I travel in Nepal, various sections of the
common milieu say that the fate of nepal is doomed -and they scold their own
countrymen.Their voices are muted and hushed lest the powers that be will be
onto them, underground or overground. The common man with no wish but to lead a
peaceful life and a life of dignity.Who is to tell them that they can not and
should not leave the things to the so called forces, for the said forces draw
their power/s from them, whether they like it or not or even whether they know it
or not.

My response-have faith in yourself and in what your people are
doing, for the whole world is watching-for the youngest nation to form.It has
lots of mistakes of other nations to learn from and lots of achievements of
other nations to inculcate.Let the churning continue. The politicians are always
measured by the yardstick of their people friendly achievements, not
rhetorics...
