Six commercial and development banks have opened their branches in the remote district of Dadeldhura in the past two months, reports say.

According to Kantipur daily, Sunrise Bank, Malika Development Bank, Global Bank, Bank of Kathmandu, Nirdhan Development Bank and Agriculture Development Bank have opened their branches in the recent weeks in Dadeldhura.

With this the number of banks in the district has reached nine. Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nepal Bank and Rural Development Bank already had their branches in the district.

Although the banks say they opened their branches in Dadeldhura to expand their network to rural areas, locals say the banks were focused on economic activities to be ensued by West Seti and Chameliya hydro-electric projects. nepalnews.com
