In conjunction with other stakeholders including the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is hosting an international conference on adventure travel and tourism on Feb. 1-5, 2010.

The conference will feature multiple sessions with deliberations on adventure travel, responsible tourism, adventure sports tourism, zero waste challenge and other issues of sustainable tourism.

PATA is said to have received important backing from two influential organisations - Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) - for its 2010 Adventure Travel Mart.

According to Prachanda Man Shrestha, CEO of NTB, the conference would act as an important platform for tourism stakeholders to discuss and promote environmental protection and social sustainability.

He also believed that the conference will assist the country's target of brining in a million tourists during Nepal Tourism Year 2011. nepalnews.com
