Yogendra Shakya, coordinator of NTY-2011 on Monday came up with these remarks at the inaugural of 3rd National Tourism Fair 2009 and the 3rd NATTA Himalayan Travel Mart.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) aims to attract 262,000 tourists from India and 100,000 from China in 2011.
NTB is also planning to increase the Chinese and Indian visitors by 40 percent every year. The working committee for NTY-2011 is targeting 164,000 Indians and 60,000 Chinese visitors for 2010.
Vijay Thakur, president of Indian Association of Tour Operators said Nepal and India can coordinate and develop common marketing strategies to develop joint tourism. He also said that to promote South Asian tourism, 2010 can be declared the SAARC tourism year.
Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) Sharat Singh Bhandari asked all political parties to show concern for the tourism sector and coordinate with each other for its development.
For the promotion of internal tourism and to develop rural tourism, NTB has organised the ongoing third National Tourism Fair 2066 from November 23 to 25 at Bhrikuti Mandap.
The fair, which has over 83 stalls, is focusing on the preservation of rural tourism and creating networking between tourism entrepreneurs. nepalnews.com
