All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appealed to Nepali spectators to be "true football fans" by not displaying any disgruntled acts during the matches.
Issuing the press release, ANFA urged spectators to be tolerant and maintain discipline during Wednesday´s AFC U-19 group ´A´ match that will take place at the Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu.
Iran´s assistant referee Shakour Heidar was injured on Sunday when Nepali fans hurled stones at him during the match, which Nepal lost 2-3 to Jordan. Heidar sustained head injuries and was immediately rushed to Blue Cross Nursing Home, Tripureshwar, where he received three stitches.
Fourth official Saleem Ali of Maldives took charge of Heidar´s duty after the latter was rushed to the hospital.
ANFA spokesperson Lalit Krishna Shrestha, stating that Nepal´s reputation for organizing football games successfully has increased over the years, added, “The misbehavior of spectators will not only make us liable for punishment but also bring down our reputation in the international level. The role of spectators is very important to make the championship a success.” nepalnews.com
