The name of much hyped Melamchi Drinking Water Project will be changed to Hyalmo Sindhu Melamchi Drinking Water Project, officials told a House panel.

Executive Director of the project Gajendra Thakur told the development committee of the parliament, the project’s name was being changed to address the demands of the local population of Melamchi.

However, the project will retain its existing name while dealing with donors.

A meeting of the Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee Monday will endorse the name change, said Thakur. nepalnews.com
