The UK chapter of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has called upon the Nepali leaders and members of the Constituent Assembly to make provision for dual citizenship for all the Non-resident Nepalese around the world in the new constitution.
In a memorandum sent to chairman of the CA, Subash Nemwang, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, chairman of the Constitution Committee of the CA, Nilamber Acharya, and chairperson of the Fundamental Rights and Directives Committee of the CA, Binda Pandey, NRN UK has insisted that in order to continue links between NRNs and their motherland, the provision of the dual citizenship is a must.

The NRN UK has also demanded that Nepal government annul the provision of losing citizenship by NRNs if they acquire citizenship of a foreign country and that citizenship should be given to children of Nepali women who have married with foreign citizens.
A delegation of NRN UK led by president Surya Gurung handed over the memorandum to Charge d’affaires at the Nepali embassy, Jhabindra P Aryal, amid a function organised at the Nepali embassy in London on Dec. 16. Mr Aryal said he will send the memorandum to Nepal government through diplomatic channel.
The NRN UK has also decided to send a high-level delegation to Kathmandu on January 11 to lobby with Nepali political leaders and members of the CA for the provision of dual citizenship to all the NRNs in the new constitution, among others, the organisation said. nepalnews.com
