Acting Nepalese envoy to US Kali Prasad Pokhrel has said the increased awareness in Nepalese living in the United States towards arts, culture and literature has helped strengthening unity among them.

Addressing the literature festival organised by International Nepali Literary Society (INLS), the largest network of Nepali literature in Diaspora, in California, USA recently, Karki urged all to keep up the efforts.T

The poetry festival proved to be an opportunity for Diaspora leaders to sit together to share experiences and decide future courses besides evoking their literary talents. It was attended by senior littérateurs including Govinda Giri Prerana, Ram Prasad Khanal, Mani Nepali, D. B. Tamang, Anil Pandey, Harihar Dahal Prem Shangraula, Dr. Shyam Karki, Bhim Udas, Jiwa Lamichane, Shriom Shrestha, Suman Timsina and Prof Jay Narayan Luitel among others.

Event coordinator Basu Dhakal on the occasion informed the participants and writers that all write-ups sent for the festival will be published gradually. nepalnews.com

Stop taking benefit by making "Khas language" as only Nepali language. Remember, so called khas language, when it was submitted to United Nation it was rejected and it even do not have its own scripts. To make nepal an independant country in UN the Khas rulers had to submit "Nepal language" and its scripts "Ranjana scripts" as the national language and scripts of Nepal. But sadly in Nepal, the Khas rulers did every thing to destroy "Nepal language" and other beautiful languages of ethnic people. They have no right to kill the languages of Nepal.But for their own benefit they killed the languages of Nepal. I do not disagree that Khas Bhasa took a place of common language but you have forgotten where this language come from. Are you afraid of speaking the truth among the readers of this group. If so, I have nothing to say. this language has changed it's kaanchli many times and trying to establish link with Nepal by calling Nepali and rest of the other languages are Gair Nepali. How can other language be Gain Nepali when the people are still known as Nepali with jabarjasti by applying Khas Bhasa grammar. You are in oregon, USA. If some one come to you and asks your native country. Your answer will be NEPAL. If I am a native speaker, my answer will be Khas Bhasa not Nepali. That is the original name of the language. I am proud of using it. But the way you are trying to call the Nepali language in different way is not right and misleading. Nepali language is spoken widely in Nepal. From east to west, South to North. If you and I meet anywhere, our communicating language will be Nepali. Because, if you and I speake in our own language, we both won't understand. And, we identify ourselves as NEPALI. So the langaugae we speake is obviously called Nepali. No matter what the origin is. It is widely spoken and accepted. This is fact. If you are willing to accept foreign language such as Hindi or English to communicate between you and I, I will not be talking to you. Rather I will walk away from you. In written form, it is written as Gorkha language or Gorkhali as well. The word NEPALI is for all Nepalese people. Nepali people means Tamang, bahun, newar, Sherpa etc. Nepali food means Thukpa, Dal-bhat, Chatamari, Chhoela, Roti etc. Nepali festival means Losar, Bhintuna, Chhath, Sakeba, Dashain etc. Nepali language means Bhojpuri, Tharu, Tamanu, Newa, Gurung, Limbu, etc Foreign language means Japanese, German, Chinese etc We are all Nepalese. So the word "Nepali" must be utilized for all Nepalese language. It will certainly take time to recover and time will surely come when people of Nepal will call the languages of Nepal in their original names.
