Lightning claims five lives

At least five persons have been killed in separate lightning related incidents in Dang, Nuwakot, Jhapa and Terathum districts on Wednesday. Three minors have also been injured in these incidents.

Two people died in Dang when lightning hit them on Wednesday. Dang District Police identified the deceased as Sapana Chaudhary 15, of Hapur VDC-7 and Sujoj Raj Chaudhary of Manpur VDC-8. The latter’s age could not be verified. Sapana died while being rushed to the nearest hospital while Sujog died undergoing treatment at the Gorahi hospital in Dang.

Similarly, reports said one unidentified women died in Jhapa while another died in Terathum when a powerful bolt of lightning hit them on Wednesday.

Three girls were also injured in the lightning related incidents in these two eastern Nepal districts.

Likewise, a woman identified as Laxmi Tamang was also killed in Nuwakot after a powerful bolt of lightning hit her yesterday. nepalnews.com
