The farmers of Chitwan have demanded an increase in milk price. Farmers held a press conference in Bharatpur and requested the government to increase the price of milk, stating that the cost of production has increased.

In a press conference, Kishore Bagale, president of Chitwan District Milk Producer Cooperative Union Ltd, demanded to increase the price of milk and stop the increase in the price of raw materials.

Chitwan was declared a self-sufficient area for milk production by the government three years ago. There are 33 percent dairy farmers in the district. Farmers here have reared 68,611 cattle. From which 350,000 liters of milk is being produced daily.

55 percent of the milk produced is imported to Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makwanpur and Kaski districts. He asked the government to raise the price of milk to a minimum of Rs 70 per liter as the farmers had to bear a loss of Rs 8 to 10 per liter of milk due to the increase in the price of consumer goods.
