Construction of Nagdhunga tunnel has come to a standstill. The work has come to a standstill after the locals of Chandragiri Municipality-2 vandalized the camp and office of a Japanese technician on April 11 demanding various things.

According to Director General of Road Department Shivahari Sapkota, the construction had to be stopped as locals vandalized the camp after their demands of additional assistance in the drinking water project were discussed.

"Our engineers have not gone to the field, and neither have the Japanese technicians for four days now," he said, "The work will start only if the locals help".

Sapkota said that the case is sensitive as it is a foreign aid project. He further added that the local team that went with the ward chairman vandalized it.
